We stock tilapia annually each May to provide algae control and as a supplemental food source for largemouth bass. Tilapia of all sizes consume algae making them perfect for keeping your pond clear of algae all summer long. Once water temperatures reach 70 degrees, tilapia are very prolific spawners. Throughout the course of summer, this continual spawn will produce 10s of thousands of offspring for largemouth bass to consume. Tilapia will become lethargic and die during the winter months, which means tilapia need to be restocked each May.
